Lewandowski still without a goal in the Champions League, tonight he aims to end this run

If there is one trait that immediately distinguishes FC Barcelona under Hansi Flick, it is their attacking power. The Catalan club has built an ultra-offensive identity, where chances and goals come in abundance, while the statistics since the arrival of the German coach are impressive.
This system has also had a positive impact on players who have traditionally not been very productive. Ferran Torres, for example, has significantly increased his performance in a Barcelona that functions as a machine for creating chances. Precisely for this reason, a statistic published by SPORT has surprised the sports opinion: Robert Lewandowski has not yet scored a goal in the Champions League this season.
The Polish striker has been part of five of the six matches so far in this competition, either as a starter or as a substitute, but without managing to find the net. The last time Lewandowski scored in the Champions League with a Barcelona shirt was last season against Borussia Dortmund in Montjuïc, where he scored twice.
For a player who is ranked third in the list of the best scorers in the history of the Champions League, behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, this is a significant decline. Although his role this season has been reduced and he has often entered the game from the bench, the numbers speak for themselves: ten goals in all competitions, but none in the most prestigious European competition.
The situation may change soon. Lewandowski is expected to have more space in the match against Slavia Prague, as Ferran Torres is out due to injury and will be absent for about ten days. This excludes him from this challenge and makes him doubtful for the final match of the League Phase against Copenhagen.
Barcelona aims not only for victories, but also for improving their goal difference, with the objective of ranking in the top eight. In this regard, Lewandowski’s contribution remains key. A goal from the Pole in these two matches seems more than possible, but the Catalans are hoping that his experience and instinct will explode exactly when the team needs it most.
