Atletico Madrid intend to extend Julian Alvarez’s contract

Barcelona host Atletico Madrid tonight at the “Spotify Camp Nou”, a big match in La Liga where the attention is not only on the result, but also on a special name: Julian Alvarez.

The 25-year-old Argentine striker has been on Barcelona’s wish list for months, who see him as the ideal successor to Robert Lewandowski in the summer of 2026. His performances in Madrid have made him one of the most sought-after players in Europe and Laporta considers him a “dream reinforcement”.

But according to MARCA, sporting director Mateu Alemany has a clear objective: to keep Alvarez at all costs. The club is already working on his renewal, despite the striker having a contract valid until 2030 and a clause of 500 million euros.

In Madrid they are convinced that there is no player more suitable for the era after Antoine Griezmann, so no one at the club can imagine the future without the Argentine star.

This has also been confirmed by president Enrique Cerezo, who recently stated that Alvarez is an integral part of Atletico’s project and will not be sold, despite Barcelona’s interest.
