Sport Bild Report: Goretzka nixes loan to Galatasaray, salary concerns may be an issue

In a report published today, Germany’s main sporting tabloid claims that Galatasaray Istanbul were aggressively courting out-of-favor Bayern and German national team midfielder Leon Goretzka last week.  A deal fell apart due to both a rejection from the player and issues surrounding the sharing of Goretzka’s salary. The final word on the matter might yet be spoken, however, as the transfer window in Turkey remains open until September 13th.  Former Bayern sporting director Matthias Sammer joined the growing chorus of experienced German footballing administrators and pundits urging Goretzka to accept a transfer elsewhere while speaking at a Munich press round yesterday.
