Barcelona alarm: Pedri comes out with injuries, examinations awaited

Barcelona may have won against Slavia Prague on Wednesday, but the main news of the match was the injury to star midfielder Pedri. The 23-year-old was forced off in the 60th minute and was seen holding the back of his thigh, which is a major concern for the Catalans.
Pedri has suffered several hamstring injuries over the past 3-4 years and another one has struck him again. Given that history, there are fears that he could be out for a considerable period of time, especially if he is diagnosed with a second or third degree tear.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Pedri’s injury “does not appear serious”. There is a possibility that he has suffered a first degree tear, which would mean several weeks out, but fortunately for Barcelona and their midfielder, this is believed to be the worst-case scenario.
However, a clearer picture will not be known until Barcelona carry out further medical examinations, which are expected to take place within the next 24 hours. It is noted that Pedri was substituted before he suffered more serious damage to his thigh muscles, but there is still a possibility that he has suffered a rupture.
Pedri’s injury comes at a difficult time for Barcelona. Gavi has not yet returned from knee surgery and, although Flick has Frenkie de Jong, Eric Garcia, Marc Bernal and Marc Casado available for the midfield positions, he will not be able to count on the Dutch midfielder for next week’s crucial Champions League clash against FC Copenhagen.
It remains to be seen how serious Pedri’s injury is, but if he is only out for a few weeks, that would not be the worst-case scenario for Barcelona, ??considering what could have happened.
