Manchester City have signed Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in a transfer deal worth at least £62.5m.

The Ghanaian striker, has signed a contract until June 2031 at the Etihad Stadium and will wear the number 42 shirt.

Semenyo’s transfer represents the biggest transfer in Bournemouth’s history and the Cherries are reported to be set to receive an initial fee of £62.5m.

City have negotiated a deal that is lower than the £65m release clause in his contract, allowing the fee to be paid over 24 months.

Bournemouth could also receive an additional £1.5m in performance-related bonuses, as well as 10 per cent of any future sale.

Semenyo joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023 and has gradually developed into one of the Premier League’s most prolific strikers.

He scored a career-high 11 league goals last season, attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham.

However, Semenyo signed a new contract to stay at Bournemouth in the summer, allaying fears of a move away before the start of the new season.

Semenyo joins City with 10 goals in 21 games so far this season, with his latest goal coming in extra time in Bournemouth’s 3-2 win over Tottenham.

Born in England, Semenyo has made 32 appearances for Ghana, scoring three goals.
