Physical problems for Lamine Yamal, hip injury continues to limit him

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal was a shadow of his former self at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday and while some, including assistant coach Marcus Sorg, have suggested he may have been under the pressure of the match, others believe the main reason is a groin injury that is still bothering him. A problem that continues to cause him problems.

The 18-year-old began to feel unwell at the end of August, but returned injured after training with the Spanish national team. He was absent for two weeks, returned and played against Real Sociedad and Paris Saint-Germain, but was then forced to stay out of the field for another three weeks.

According to Cadena Cope, people close to Lamine Yamal say that he is still not 100% recovered, while sources inside Barcelona have confirmed that the player continues to feel slight discomfort. This situation has become a serious concern for the club and those who care for him.

On the other hand, former Barcelona physiotherapist Miguel Ángel Cos told Cadena SER (via Sport) that Lamine Yamal “has to learn to live with this hip injury”. He explains that it is not a classic muscle injury, but a problem that often appears during the growth period, especially if the player has added muscle mass in the last year. The injury occurs at the point where the abdominal muscles meet those of the thigh, and if they are not completely synchronized, they cause pain.

There is no immediate solution to this, other than waiting and strictly following physiotherapy therapy, avoiding “explosive exercises”. Cos recalled that Lionel Messi had also had similar problems on two occasions, and that the medical staff had to stop him from playing “foot-tennis” with Ronaldinho, since the Argentine gave everything in those friendly matches.
